Paul van Heerwaarden

Paul has over 30 years’ experience in agribusiness and food including soft commodity cycle risk management and managing integrated supply chains from farm gate through to processing, distribution and marketing into industrial and consumer channels. Throughout his career he has worked in a range of sectors including dairy, beef, grain, oilseeds, nuts, juice and stockfeed.

Paul joined Bega Cheese Ltd in 2009 where he gained commercial, operational and supply chain experience in the Australian dairy industry and international dairy markets. Paul’s most recent role was CEO and during his tenure, Bega transitioned to become a diversified branded food and beverage company with leading brands including Vegemite, Dare, Farmers Union and Dairy Farmers following the acquisitions of the Mondelez Grocery Business in Australia and Lion Dairy & Drinks.

Prior to his time with Bega, Paul held finance and commercial roles with Cargill and Ridley AgriProducts.

Paul stepped down as CEO of Bega in February 2023 after six years in the role and has transitioned from being a full time executive. He currently serves as a non-executive director of Dairy Australia Ltd where he is Deputy Chair and as a non-executive director of Select Harvests Ltd.
