Charlie Taylor

In his first decade with the firm he lived and worked in Australia, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo, serving clients across mining, financial services, agriculture and telecommunications. He then led the Indonesian practice from Jakarta and the Asian logistics and infrastructure practice from Singapore, before returning to Sydney in 2009 to build and lead the public and health sector practice. He continues to advise McKinsey's Australian health and public sector practices as a senior advisor.

Since retiring, Charlie has pursued interests in agriculture, technology investing and policy, healthcare, education and public policy. He serves on the boards of two ASX-listed health sector companies, Healius and Cardiex, chairing the Audit Committee at Healius and sitting on its People and Governance Committee. He was appointed Chair of the NSW Innovation and Productivity Council in 2022, and is a director and investor in MacLaughlin River Pastoral Company, a large family agriculture business in the Snowy Mountains. He is an investor and adviser with venture capital firms Airtree and Antler, and sits on the advisory committee of For Purpose Investment Partners.

Charlie trained as an economist and lawyer, receiving a Bachelor of Economics with First Class Honours and an LLB from the University of Sydney, and was awarded a Commonwealth Trust Scholarship leading to an MPhil in Economics at Cambridge University. He worked on the FX and options desk at Citicorp Treasury before joining McKinsey.
