Nigel Dews

Nigel co-founded GNG Partners in 2019 and has extensive experience in media, telecommunications, energy, technology, finance, FMCG, healthcare, agriculture and venture capital. This experience has spanned senior executive, board and consulting roles in both public and private companies, contributing to his practical and action-oriented approach to consulting.

Born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, Nigel has lived and worked in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the US. He began his career as an economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia, completed an MBA at London Business School and joined McKinsey & Company, where he built his strategy skills.

He has since led a series of growth companies, serving as CEO of Fairfax Digital, 3 Mobile, Vodafone Australia, MessageMedia and European start-up Hue. At 3 Mobile he captured 15% of post-paid market share as a new entrant, making it the first profitable 3G business globally. He established Fairfax Digital in the late 1990s, taking many newspapers online and creating marketplaces including Domain. At MessageMedia he drove an approximately 8x value uplift and a $1.7bn exit. He was later a Director and shareholder at Port Jackson Partners, an Australian boutique strategy firm.

Nigel is also an Operating Partner and Investment Committee member at OneVentures, an Australian technology and healthcare venture capital firm with almost $1bn in funds under management, which partners with GNG to develop growth acceleration plans for all new portfolio companies.

He holds a Bachelor of Economics with First Class Honours from James Cook University and an MBA with Distinction from London Business School.

Nigel is married with three grown-up children and enjoys getting into the outdoors with them.
