Ben Thompson

 

Ben has more than 25 years’ experience in strategy, growth and high-performance operating models in both consulting and executive roles. He has experience across a wide variety of industries, including information technology, financial services, private equity, healthcare, gambling, manufacturing, mining, engineering, logistics and education. He has lived and worked in Australia and the United States, with some experience across South-East Asia and New Zealand.

Originally a mathematician, his early corporate roles were in software, creating the market-leading parking management system and becoming head of development at a dot com specialising in contact centre systems. After graduating top of his class with an MBA from Melbourne Business School, he joined the Boston Consulting Group. He then joined Tabcorp, where he was head of strategy, before heading back to consulting. Most recently he has been a Senior Partner at Partners in Performance, a leading Australian-based boutique strategy and operations consulting firm.

Ben is married with three grown-up kids. He is a keen bridge player, holding the title of International Master, and is 1st Vice President (deputy chair) of the World Bridge Federation. One skill he uses in both bridge and consulting is driving for strong realistic outcomes in the face of great uncertainty.
